Introduced in 1990 these unusual
shaped cameras belong to a group of cameras that were commonly
called 'Bridge Cameras', because they were supposed to bridge the
gap between compact P&S cameras and Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras,
combining properties of both: TTL viewing and metering of the SLR combined
with the ease of operation of the P&S camera. They have 35-135 zoom
lenses and powerful flash units. The Olympus has a dual flash system and
the canon flash is incorporated into the swing out front lens cap.
